The theater moved into a million dollar facility in 2001 and hosts professional-quality shows. Three subscription shows are produced annually. Our Little Theatre is one of the region's best. Performances begin at 8:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday with a Sunday matinee at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $15. Special events throughout the year are also offered.

The Arts Center @ 319, co-located with the Smithfield Visitor Center, exhibits the works of local and regional artists in multiple shows throughout the year. The Arts Center also hosts working studios for eight resident artists, a gift shop that features creations by its member artists and an arts classroom. Visitors are encouraged to interact with the resident artists as new works are being created.

Call to schedule a class at your convenience. (One week notice needed). Minimum of 3-5 people required ($15 per person). Ages 8-adult (children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult). Classes are approximately 1 hour and instructors vary. Choose from acrylics, beaded animal jewelry, painted heart boxes or pigs, pastels, pop-up books or wet felted flower projects.

Friday's on the Boardwalk at Smithfield Station
Every Friday evening from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. until September 18

Smithfield Music presents top tier entertainment, including the popular Aiken & Friends Fest, in partnership with the Smithfield Little Theatre and uses the proceeds from the concerts to promote music education in Isle of Wight County. Located in the heart of the historic district, the Smithfield Little Theatre, with seating for 178, is the perfect setting for an intimate concert.

Tidewater Virginia's Premier Americana/Roots Music Festival held the first weekend of October in Smithfield's Historic District.
Friday Night Summer Concert Series

The Isle of Wight Arts League, in partnership with The Smithfield Times Newspaper sponsors this series on the front lawn of the Times in the downtown Historic District for the past 22 years! These concerts are free to the community every Friday evening at 8:00 p.m. from Memorial Day through Labor Day and feature a delightful mix of musical styles from local and regional artists.
"Sunday's at Four" Concert Series

Quarterly concerts presented in the intimate setting of Christ Episcopal Church, located in the heart of the historic district. The church is located at 111 South Church Street in downtown Smithfield (757) 375-9140.

"Art About Town"

The mural, installed in the Smithfield Post Office (234 Main Street) in 1941, was created by artist William Abbott Cheever, and depicts Captain John Smith and his men trading with the Warraskoyack Tribe in Burwell's Bay on the James River in September of 1607.

Life-size bronze statues depicting such figures as Benjamin Franklin, Robert Frost and the “Valentine Couple” are placed throughout town, Miniatures of many of the bronzes are available for purchase at Imagine Art Studio.
